Nesting Baskets
For the collector or connoisseur of beautiful baskets, we offer two beautifully crafted nesting sets of baskets. Our small set, consisting of six perfectly proportioned baskets, range in size from a 3” up to an 8”. These baskets have cane staves and are woven in cane. The bases and handles are cherry. The handles are slotted and attached to the basket with brass ears. The outer (or 8”) basket is finished with four ivory “feet.”
Our largest nesting set consists of seven baskets, ranging in size from 3” to 12”. Each basket is one and a half inches larger than the next. This set is crafted from hand split cherry staves and woven with cane. The handcrafted cherry handles each have an overlay of scrimshawed ivory.
The scrimshaw was done by Sandi Beauleiu, of Acushnet, Massachusetts. Over time, this set of baskets has developed a beautiful patina, as only Nantucket baskets can achieve.
In March of 2007, this set of baskets was awarded the Award of Excellence at the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival.
